SILVER ANNIVERSARY FOR CANADIAN WRITING AWARDS

The Word Guild's black-tie gala promises to be an outstanding celebration of 25 years of excellence

TORONTO – The Word Awards Gala on June 12, 2013 will mark the 25th anniversary of recognizing the best of Canadian writing from a Christian world view.

This black tie affair celebrates both new and emerging writers, and honours the lifetime achievement of literary luminaries, the likes of Jean Vanier, J.I. Packer, Rudy Wiebe and Jean Little.

One highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the $5,000 Grace Irwin Prize, donated by retired book publisher John W. Irwin (nephew of the award's namesake) and his wife Eleanor. It will celebrate the best book published in 2012 by a Canadian who is Christian.

This year the recipients of all of the major awards over the past 25 years will be highlighted, and winners of the more than 34 book and short feature categories will be announced.
