JUDGING
- The award-winning entry in each category must have a score of 80% or above.
Entries must meet pre-determined criteria in order to be shortlisted. If the judges deem none of the entries in a particular category meet the criteria, no award will be given and no entry fees will be refunded. - There will be two rounds of judging for all book entries. In the first round of judging, books will be evaluated on the first thirty (30) pages. Only books scoring 80% or higher will move on to the second round which includes a full reading of the book. Then judges will compile a shortlist.
- All qualified entries will be evaluated by judges who are industry leaders.
Entries are judged based on criteria specific to that category.
A list of judges will be published to honour their work. The categories they judge will not be made public. - It is your responsibility to choose the correct category. We reserve the right to re-categorize. No entry fee will be refunded if a judge deems it to be in the wrong category.

The Word Guild is not responsible for any comments or decisions made by any judge.

Statement of Faith
Eligibility to become a member of The Word Guild, or to enter writing contests sponsored by The Word Guild, requires that you agree with this Statement of Faith, which is based on The Apostles’ Creed:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
the Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.
Amen.
