Canada’s largest conference for writers who are Christian, Write Canada, has opened registration. Write Canada will be held in North York at Novotel on June 11-13, 2015 and features a stellar faculty appealing to writers interested in fiction, non-fiction, short stories, devotionals, and journalism.
Write Canada is the largest writer’s conference of its kind in Canada with attendance between 100-150 writers spanning many genres. Writing is often a solitary profession, and conferences like Write Canada provide an opportunity for writers to network, meet with agents and editors, and take classes and workshops focused on professional development.
The keynote speakers for Write Canada 2015 are Bill Fledderus, Senior Editor at Faith Today – Canada’s largest evangelical magazine and Cheryl Weber, a video journalist and on-air personality for Crossroads TV and 100 Huntley Street.
Jayne Self is Write Canada Director. “We’re really excited about Write Canada 2015. We’ve got some new things planned, we’re in a new location, and we’re going to have a lot of fun!”
Conference registration is open at https://thewordguild.com/events/write-canada/ and the popular one-day registration for the Saturday of the conference is back again. Participants can also take advantage of faculty appointments and critiques, morning worship sessions, 5hour intensives for fiction and creative non-fiction (limited enrolment), having professional photos or *new this year* a promotional video done, and the popular speed-dating with an editor of a Canadian faith-based periodical.
“As an author, Write Canada opened doors to multiple streams of literary opportunities. As a Christian, the conference connected me to a community kindred by a hunger for words and God.” Joe Martelle
“I attended a Write Canada in Guelph one year, and met with a Zondervan editor…which led to sending them my manuscript, which led to a contract and two published books.” Jenn Kelly
“Attending Write Canada launched a journalism career in faith-based reporting I never imagined was possible. Those connections are maintained each year at Write Canada and have been absolutely invaluable.” Lisa Hall-Wilson
Write Canada 2015 is innovating by inviting 3 popular American writers to share their expertise via live Internet feed allowing participants to interact with the speaker in real time. These are speakers who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend Write Canada. Julie Gwinn, voted the top agent at the American Christian Fiction Writer’s conference in 2014, will be attending along with other notable faculty including literary agent Les Stobbe, editor Don Pape and Susan King, authors Sandra Orchard, Linda Hall, Maggie K. Black, and many others.
Write Canada is the national flagship event for the sponsoring organization The Word Guild. In conjunction with Write Canada, The Word Awards will take place at Novotel North York on June 13, 2015 with a formal gala to celebrate the year’s best Christian writing in Canada.
